Under the Influence of Mars

Under the Influence of Mars

filet crochet original on branches with silver saddle conchos, rock beads in mane, tail and forelock; malachite and wooden beads. When I competed on my Appy in AERC endurance rides, I decorated his body with the symbols shown on this hanging. This is a memory hanging for CF Chataqua. (designed August 2003 - when Mars danced with the full moon) 34" x 43" - just the crochet

Geo 2

A pattern (from Country Crochet Accents - Blue Lace Tray Clothe June 1988) I made for the farm's glass panel doors. (Feedsack string strikes again) About 24" x 60"

Geometric

Geometric

Single panel I made (good ol feedsack string) for one of the farm's glass paneled doors. (from Ondori Crochet Mesh 1977)I often contemplate making another larger set. About 24" x 60"

I especially love these curtains in the bright and hot west window. I love the patterns they make on the wall. Eventually I will replace them with handspun karakul (next winter? spring 2005???) and put these in a south window.

Linked lines - exterior view

I found this pattern for placemats (Link'D Lines Lily Design Doilies 10/79) and wanted curtains from it soooo bad. In the meantime I made placemats and runners for girlfriends who fell in love with the pattern too. Finally, I made 6 25" x 70" panel curtains for myself - they are versatile and again made of my old buddy - feed sack string.

Valance

Valance

One of the valances (From "Crocheting Tablecloths" Dec 1975) I crocheted to hide the blinds and allow maximum sunlight for the cacti and succulents. 11" x 6'

Rose Panel

Rose Panel

I first found this tableclothe pattern in 1978 (Lily Design Tableclothes 10/77). Winter of 2002 I finally made a set as curtains for me. Approx 24" x 60" per panel

Motif A

Motif A

This pattern was in a Ondori (Gorgeous Crochet Lace) magazine a friend gave me in 1980. I finally made the curtains in the early 90s when I had a big enough window for them. It's of trusty feedsack string and together the panels weigh about 30 lbs! Each panel is about 60" x 80" and looks grand when held back by the tiebacks (not shown) I made just for these curtains. Looked so cool with my oak country furniture. Did I ever mention how much I love the shadow of the patterns on the wall? Another pair that are NOT going anywhere. But I might consider making another set at some time. Would have to be of size 10 crochet cotton and would be considerably less heavy.
