First weekend of August, M and I decided to take a road trip to the Western Slope. Actually, it was a combination birthday trip for us Leos. We had a craving for a charo-broil burger in West Glenwood Springs and after that... Marble came to mind.
This is 8 week old Teddy at Marble on his first road trip.
And here he is on this one. Not a whole lot of change...;-) Still the big bad adventure dog from 2 1/2 lbs to 9 lbs of fluff.
Marble is one of our favorite places and here's some photos to show you why.
Marble ready to ship
There must have been roof with these pillars holding it up ... long long time ago.
We weren't able to find a pull off place to take a photo of the old rail line that carried marble down from the quarry - but those are spilled into the Crystal River and ever so much fun to see. We also chose not to drive up to the quarry... next time.
And the coke ovens outside of Redstone.
And then there's Independence Pass - complete with waterfall.
We also saw a snow shoe rabbit cross the road which was a first for us. Too bad there was too much traffic to stop but the rabbit made it across.
My mother wanted me to take wildflower pictures in Aspen (with the gardens and the window boxes but the traffic was horrendous). Instead I sent her this one.
Finally - when it's hot down here on the prairie, I think of timberline on Independence Pass. This is on my desktop.
