17 months of working on the Shetland Lace Sampler are coming to the end.As I finished knitting the final 7' of edgings in one recliner while Taz and Teddy snuggled in another.
I finished knitting and pinning the last piece Wednesday night about 8 and went to bed. I woke up this morning at 5 ready to work on the project. You can see I'm prepared for a long day - coffee, yarn, tapestry needle, safety pin jar, crochet hook, essential rocks... and not shown - Guppy.
Today, waiting for 1 - 2' of snow to hit from now through Saturday means plenty of time to watch the sky, sit under pets and sew the border/edging to the body. I think I'll be at the point of crocheting around the entire sampler and weave in the ends sometime over the weekend.
I have tags on each sample (you can see them in the above photo) and am considering washable (material?) laundry tags with written description sewn on each so I can actually use the sampler as an afghan. It's warm and wonderful to use tho originally my plan was to hang it on a wall. Any suggestion for washable tags?

sounds like a perfect day to me! Ahhh, can't wait to see the results! What is the final size? what patience with a project..very inspirational! KUDOS!

Such fitting weather for finishing ;-)
This is such a beautiful piece.
It is a work of art.
I think you should frame your notes, with a sketch of the finished piece and use your tags to label the sketch. You could also incorporate all the snipping's left over from the woven ends. This is what could hang on the wall....
...on second thought- that would be making a project out of a project ;0)

17 months? Wow. I am in awe of your ability to commit! It feels like you only just started that project...

Well, my first thought was tyvek, but that wouldn't be comfortable as an afghan probably. Just suitable for a wall hanging that needs cleaned now and again. How about twill tape found near snap, hook and purse hardware stuff in JoAnn's? I know some art quilters who stamp their name on it in washable ink and sew it to the back as their signature.
